Elbow Lane teachers provide positive guidance and support as they create a safe, healthy, and secure environment that promotes a love for learning. Creative Curriculum is used to make learning fun and engaging with age appropriate STEAM projects seamlessly woven into everyday activities. Our classrooms are set up in learning centers, which are designed to provide children with a variety of choices.
Some of these centers include: Dramatic Play, Science, Technology, Engineering (Construction), Art, Math, Manipulatives, and Cozy Corner (Literacy). Children can choose activities which interests them and explore, practice, repeat, and invent. This encourages independence and enhances social skills.
Teachers foster children’s social and emotional development by encouraging kindness, independence and making new friends as well as using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports in all age groups. Children learn through play and we love to provide them with countless opportunities to do so. Families are kept up to date on activities through Tadpoles.

INFANTS/TODDLERS
Infants and Toddlers transition when they are developmentally ready, not necessarily chronologically.
- Infant Room:
2 months through 13 months Offers a nurturing and comforting environment for our babies to grow, move, explore and develop bonding relationships with their caring teachers. The daily schedule reflects each individual infant’s needs. - Young Toddlers:
14 months through 24 months - Older Toddlers:
25 months through 36 months. Toddlers have object hunger and the need to gain physical knowledge of the world they live in. We encourage their need for autonomy as they begin their exploration of the world around them. Consistency and daily routines meet their individual needs in a safe and secure environment.
PRE SCHOOL
- 3 to 4 years old
Preschool children are given developmentally appropriate opportunities to fully explore and experiment in their environment through hands-on experiences, varied centers, learning activities and play. Self-help is reinforced as well as social experiences that encourage making friends, sharing, playing appropriately with others, attentively listening and following directions.
PRE K
- 4 to 5 years old
At this stage, teachers guide children through working independently and mastering self-help skills. Emphasis is placed on social-emotional competence, responsibility, good listening skills and working cooperatively with others. Our pre-k classes prepare the students in readiness skills that make for a smooth transition to Kindergarten.
KINDERGARTEN ENRICHMENT
- We offer both a full and half day enrichment program for kindergarteners. Daily opportunities are offered for learning through varied small and large group programming, hands-on activities, and indoor, outdoor exploration and play.
Kindergarten is a very important year when it comes to enhancing language and literacy skills. Kinderwoods offers a great deal of activities to cater to meeting this learning standard through journaling and focused writing projects using Kid Writing. Kid Writing is a program that utilizes the children’s knowledge of letter sounds to assist them in learning to write independently.
Children in this class have a unique opportunity of multimedia art exploration through art projects, music, and drama. Other key curriculum areas including science, math, social studies, and technology are incorporated with exciting projects, hands on activities and games. Children work on enhancing their fine and gross motor skills in a variety of ways. We promote the importance of making good choices, showing respect towards one another, expressing kindness, building independence, and making new friends is stressed throughout the year.
We coordinate with Titus and Mill Creek for kindergarten transportation in the Central Bucks School district.
